New Apple iPad

iPad is new product from Apple, which is currently the largest manufacturer of mobile devices (iPhone has enabled Apple to overcome Nokia). Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, presented a new device as filling the space between the mobile phone (iPhone) and laptop (MacBook).

What is the iPad?

At first glance, iPad seems to be just a big iPhone. The whole device is one large multi-touch 9.7'' screen with 1.5 pounds. In the U.S., the device will be sold for $499.

Multi-Touch Screen

iPad contains multi-touch screen as iPhone does, which means that you can control the whole device only with the touch of your fingers.

I am a big fan of multi-touch screens because I can see the future there. It is just a very natural way of controlling devices. With iPad you can use your fingers to flick through picture or to zoom in on a map.

iPad Apps

iPad has access to the iTunes Store and is compatible with applications for the iPhone or iPod Touch. The entire device is of course more powerfull than iPhone and it is possible to play more performance demanding games.

Costumers

iPad is mobile computer better then smartphone but worse then laptop. If you need light portable device to browse the Internet, read e-mails or watch movies, iPad can be the right choice for you.

I am not sure how much money is 499 USD for the Americans but here in the Czech republic it will be sold for between 1000 and 1500 USD (iPhone 3GS costs $299 in the U.S. but here it is $1000). So you understand that here you must be "quite cool" to have it. Average czech citizen is not Apple's costumer for sure.
